In the digital age, boundaries between material and immaterial worlds are increasingly blurred. Today's hybrid materialism challenges us to rethink the nature of matter and the ways in which our digital and physical realities interact. In this shifting landscape, how do digital technologies shape the materiality of objects, bodies or environments? In the second edition of the InKüLe open call, we invite passionate students or recent graduates to apply with a workshop proposal. Your proposal should focus on exploring and discussing the theme of Im/materialities. You will need to choose one of three fields and their corresponding technologies as the foundation of your workshop.
Our first two quickstart guides for the streamingkit and the vrkit° were released with UdK Berlin Rundgang 2024. Download and fold your printable quickstart guides here or get them with your next cooperation with InKüLe!
Scanning Workshop for Digital Practices Joel Tenenberg, SHK InKüLe
What is 3D scanning? Which different methods are available to use and how do I select one? Could this even be relevant for purely analogue arts practices?
As we navigate the digital age, we see how it affects our connection with our voices and bodies. Identity is fluid, realities overlap, and bodies are always in an in-between state. How do our bodies adjust to the changing stories of our online/offline presence? In this call, we seek passionate students eager to explore and discuss voice, body, and digitality intersections with an interdisciplinary student audience.
Hybrid Bodies³: səˈlesCHəl - Experiencing Edges of the Digital Self
The 5-hour workshop "səˈlesCHəl - Experiencing Edges of the Digital Self" will explore the wide-ranging territories of identity and the concept of the 'open avatar' within the digital realm. The workshop utilizes elements from the interactive tool "Hyperlinked Rituals," developed by Christian Schmidts and Jonny-Bix Bongers, which allows for integration of real-life interaction with the dynamic gaming software Unreal Engine.
In this beginner-friendly workshop, Maxime Lethelier will introduce participants to TouchDesigner. This is a node-based programming software enabling its users to easily create real time visuals and manage data. The workshop will focus at first on how to start working with TouchDesigner, and then on different ways to integrate it in sonic arts workflow and creating immersive environments.
Is it possible to create a graphic novel with generative A.I.? What does it mean to use these emerging media in collaboration with others? And why does their local and offline application matter?
Embark on an immersive journey into the world of virtual avatars! This interdisciplinary workshop, led by Paula Strunden and Viviana Defazio, merges dance with virtual reality (VR). In Virtual Vibrations, you'll discover the fascinating interplay of movement, sound, and extended reality (XR). Inspired by Paula Strunden's XR dance performance "Rhetorical Bodies" and Viviana Defazio's bodywork aimed at connecting with oneself and others through deep listening, you'll create an embodied synthesizer that combines physical movements with auditory expression.

Hybrid Bodies²: Speak Your Story - A Linguistic Exploration of Identity and Diversity
How do we ask questions to learn about each other? What do our mother tongues reveal about us? How do different languages shape our identities? Mother tongue, foreign languages or even memes? How do we define similarities or differences in terms of languages and cultures?

Hybrid Bodies¹: Disembodiment and Spatiality of Voice
The workshop is on exploration of human voice in physical and digital spaces and offers a collective journey that goes beyond conventional boundaries of gender and identity. It encourages participants to appreciate the diverse and imaginative possibilities of voice expression.
On February 8th 2024 the InKüLe Workshop ›sessions_vr lab: sense-making across realities‹ will take place at LaborDigital conference in Zürich (ZHdK - Zurich Univeristy of the Arts)
In this workshop by Federico Zurani, participants will explore the interactive and immersive archive. In VR, the interactive archive becomes an ever-changing environment that can be highly personalized through the use of datasets in Unreal engine.
